Highland returned from a series of scrimmages in South Carolina over its spring break and picked up a huge first win of the season.

Facing a Division IV state semiffinalist from a season ago, the Scots dominated Hillsdale 12-1.

Kort Sears pitched two innings to get the win, while Caleb Youngman and Zach Church pitched in relief. Sears led with a double, while Rhett Russell and Jacob Barber both produced three RBIs.

  • Mount Gilead’s Wyatt Young hit a bases loaded, one-out sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to lift the team to a 9-8 win over North Union. Cameron Vickers was the winning pitcher. Cole Fricke, Nik Coder and Kaden St. Clair all had two hits for MG.
  • Northmor scored seven runs in the third inning and beat Mansfield Senior 8-4. Ethan Hinton and Jack Bowdre combined for a seven-hitter, striking out eight and walking nine. Bowdre also tripled and singled, and Nicholas Armrose doubled among the team’s eight hits.
  • Northmor also got a no-hitter from Trevor Brubaker in a 10-0 win over Lucas. He struck out seven and walked no one. Cole Cuffman scored three times, and Brooksten Beck doubled and singled for the Knights.
  • River Valley’s Hayden Kanagy hit a home run while going 4-for-5 at the plate, driving in four runs, but Carrolton prevailed 15-14. Pate Crawford had a triple, and he and Hudson Pollock ended with multiple hits for RV. J.R. Bates walked three times for the Vikings. The Vikes were held to two hits in a 15-1 loss to Granville.
  • RV swept a doubleheader with East Knox. In a 15-12 victory, Bates went 3-for-4, and Crawford and Hayden Foltz each drove in three runs. Aiden Bowers, Pollock and Hunter Faust all had two hits, and Kanagy added three steals. In a 4-3 win, Kanagy hit a game-winning single in the seventh to go with a double. Bowers and Pollock both had two hits. Bates and Dallas Kelly teamed for an eight-hitter, striking out five and walking none.
  • Ray J Scott-Harbolt hit a two-run home run, and Keaton Ward and Lucas Keller both hit two-run doubles as Marion Harding beat Wynford 10-0. Gavyn Baumgarther tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts, singling and doubling at the plate.
  • Elgin got a two-run homer and a single from Quinten Harrison in an 8-2 win over Fredericktown. Braydon Lowery and Jacob Isler also doubled and singled, and Mitchell Askew singled three times to go with five innings pitched and six strikeouts.
  • Cardington’s Wyatt Wade threw a six-hitter with five strikeouts and a walk, and Wyatt Denney hit two singles, but Clear Fork won 2-1.
  • Ridgedale scored its three runs in the third inning of a 7-3 loss to Lehman Catholic. The Rockets were limited to three hits as A.J. Imbody had a double. Brody Mawer and Gabe Melo combined for a three-hitter for Ridgedale, giving up two earned runs and nine walks with eight strikeouts.

Track and Field​

  • Pleasant won the five-team Triad Relays. Picking up wins were the 4x800-meter relay, the 4x200, the 4x100, the distance medley, the spring medley and the 4x300. Winning individually were Jacob Myers in the high jump at 5-foot-8 and Jackson Caldwell in the long jump at 17-4 ¼. For Gilead Christian, Joseph Bossard won the discus at 111-10.
  • Marion Harding was fourth at the eight-team Red Raider Relays in London. Finishing third for the Presidents were the shuttle hurdles, the 4x100, the distance medley, the 4x200 and the middle distance medley. Jaheem Gray was fourth in the discus at 97-5, while Peyton Ward was fifth in the pole vault at 9-0 and Jeffrey Williams fifth in the ong jump at 16-10 ½.
