Even before their series with the Oklahoma City Thunder was over, the King in the Fourth had declared a winner for the 2026 NBA Finals. Speaking on a recent episode of his "Point game" podcast, Boston Celtics point guard alum Isaiah Thomas gave us his take on who he sees emerging from this year's finals with a win, and it was NOT the defending champs that he picked.
And it was not the ball club coming out of the NBA's Eastern Conference, either, in case you were wondering -- For IT, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs are going to be the next team in the league to hang a banner. "I think the Spurs (have) got multiple guards that can that can make it tough for (Jalen) Brunson," said the Washington native.
"They've got wings that can guard Brunson," said the Celtics scout. "They can also guard (Karl-Anthony Towns). So it's not like Wemby's going to have to just guard KAT the whole time (...)."
"I am saying the (New York) Knicks are going to lose, but putting my basketball hat on, you can't just throw that out there," he said. "They are a team that can possibly win a finals. They have gotten to the finals."
"They've ran through all teams on the Eastern Conference. So we've got to tip our hat to them but I always said, I feel like the West is going to win the finals, and since early on I've said the Spurs are going to win, so I'm going to just ride with that. But it's not going to be easy -- It's not."
