Michigan basketball has been the most dominant team in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

It didn't seem like Michigan could play any better after it beat Tennessee by more than 30 points in the Elite Eight in Chicago, but it took its game to the next level in the Final Four, crushing 1-seed and near co-favorite Arizona in the national semifinal, 91-73.

Can anyone stop Michigan at this point?

If there's a team that could, it might just be UConn, who has been to the national title game in three of the past four years. Few doubt there's a talent discrepancy between the two squads, with the Wolverines having the advantage, but as Duke and Illinois discovered, its not always about how much talent you have when facing Dan Hurley.

Can the Huskies muck up another game and keep it close against Michigan? Three Free Press experts make their predictions:

MONARREZ: Michigan basketball brings 'unbeatable' mojo to title game with UConn

Michigan vs UConn predictions

Tony Garcia: Michigan’s run to the title game has been historic, becoming the first team to score 90 points or more in its first five games. UConn has been a true power, with an elite coach, now playing for its third national title in four years. U-M has barely stumbled as it puts together an all-time season and it won’t come now. The Wolverines get their second national title. The pick: Michigan 87, UConn 76.

Carlos Monarrez: Unless UConn coach Dan Hurley can conjure the spirt of 1992 Bobby Hurley (and Christian Laettner), the Huskies don’t stand much of a chance against the Wolverines’ size, defense and versatile scoring prowess. Hurley’s still a masterful coach, who uses screens and size well, and he might try to throw some kind of curveball at Michigan. But tactics and clever tricks only go so far when an opponent is simply superior and can score from anywhere in the building. The pick: Michigan 91, UConn 76.

Shawn Windsor: If Yaxel Lendeborg is truly limited, then the score will be closer, but the outcome will be the same. Dusty May said a week ago he thought he had a contender before Lendeborg committed. We saw that vision against Arizona. This deep and irrepressible group only has to do it one more time to make history. They will. The pick: Michigan 81, UConn 70.
