Cue the lights, cameras, and action. The second week of the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator search is underway. Check out some of the names of the candidates who have been asked to interview so far:

Zac Robinson, Jim Bob Cooter, Brian Daboll, Mike Kafka, Charlie Weis Jr., and Josh Grizzard headline that list. That brings us to another. Philadelphia reportedly requested to interview Miami Dolphins senior passing game coordinator Mike Slowik.

Ranking him is tough. Some might put him behind Brian Daboll and ahead of Mike Kafka. Others might disagree with that theory entirely. Who knows for certain? What can't be debated is his resume.

He spent three seasons in Washington under Mike Shanahan as a defensive assistant. There, he built another connection, one with Kyle Shanahan. When the younger Shanahan left, Slowik followed him to the Bay Area, and that's where his story really becomes more interesting.

Bobby Slowik is on the list of Eagles candidates despite a momentum loss.

This past February, Bobby Slowik landed with the Miami Dolphins. Before that, his reputation was that of one of the game's bright young offensive minds. His momentum stalled some. Others stepped ahead, and there aren't very many concrete reasons why any of that happened.

Perhaps it had something to do with the Dolphins' recent lack of success. That makes his future there uncertain following McDaniel's firing on January 8. Right now, he's still employed as their senior passing game coordinator.

As one of Philadelphia's offensive coordinator candidates, he's getting mentioned around the City of Brotherly Love, but some of it wallows in skepticism. Few have labeled him as one of the more impressive targets, but again, the resume can't be debated. He has enjoyed some pretty impressive stops along the way.

Slowik spent four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers (2019-22), beginning as an offensive assistant. He eventually became their offensive passing game coordinator.

He spent two seasons as the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator (2023-24). C.J. Stroud led the NFL in passing yards per game as a rookie under his watch (273.9). That led Stroud to the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

So, as you can see, there's some talent here, but is he the right fit for the Eagles? That's the question that is being asked. Time will tell if Philadelphia answers that question with a 'yes'.

That answer will depend on what the Eagles truly believe they need right now. They need a steady hand who can maximize what's already on the roster. They also need a spark and a better play designer. Slowik has been around some of the game's best, but the question is this. Is he one of the best himself?
