The Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Guardians are set to conclude their three-game series on Sunday, with the series currently tied at 1-1. Toronto, currently third in the American League East, with a 16-17 record, secured a 5-3 victory in the opener, thanks to Nathan Lukes' clutch two-run single in the eighth inning. However, the Guardians responded in Game 2 with a dramatic 5-3 comeback win, highlighted by Daniel Schneemann's two home runs, including a decisive ninth-inning grand slam.
In Saturday's game, the Blue Jays held a 3-0 lead entering the eighth inning, bolstered by Bo Bichette's leadoff home run and a strong performance from starter Kevin Gausman, who allowed just one hit and struck out nine over six innings.

However, the bullpen faltered late, with Schneemann's solo homer in the eighth and grand slam in the ninth turning the tide in favor of Cleveland.
As the Blue Jays aim to bounce back in the series finale, they've encountered a setback. Outfielder Daulton Varsho was scratched from Sunday's starting lineup due to lower-back tightness, the team announced on social media hours before the game.
Varsho, who recently returned from right shoulder surgery, has been a key contributor since rejoining the team. In the 2025 season, he's posted a .300 batting average with two home runs and three RBIs, along with an impressive 1.362 OPS.
The Blue Jays will need to adjust their lineup accordingly as they look to secure the series win. The finale promises to be a pivotal game for both teams as they seek momentum moving forward.
