Dylan Cease continues to break new ground for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Or in the case of Wednesday night, continues to set velocity records.
In his start in Milwaukee, Cease threw nine pitches of 99 miles per hour or more. That's a new Blue Jays record, according to reporter Hazel Mae.
Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, it came in a 2-1 loss.
That wasn't Cease's fault, though. He threw 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out six.
It was Tyler Rogers out of the bullpen who surprisingly gave up two runs late, only one earned, to take the loss. His ERA even after the bad outing is 0.93, so that certainly wasn't expected.

Each team in Wednesday night's game had five hits. The Blue Jays scored in the top of the first inning when Jesus Sanchez drove in Daulton Varsho. And then the Brewers scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Between that, Cease and Brewers starter Caleb Patrick were both sharp.
That won't make Toronto fans feel that much better, but the positive aspect of things is that Cease sure seems to have been worth the seven-year, $210 million contract that the Blue Jays gave him this offseason.
Once the offense and bullpen start to deliver more for him, things will get even better for Toronto. Cease is certainly letting it fly.
