Jan. 29—JAMESTOWN — There was no getting past Bismarck High on Thursday.

The Jamestown High School wrestling teams still tried though.

"Tonight the team came out and showed a lot of heart," JHS head boys wrestling coach Patrick Schlosser said. "Unfortunately, we were open three weight classes today due to sickness."

Schlosser and the Blue Jay boys dropped 63-11 to the Demons while the Blue Jay girls lost 71-6. Both teams will be back in action on Jan. 30 against Bismarck Legacy and Dickinson. James Meland and the Blue Jay girls will compete at Dickinson while Schlosser and the boys will face the Sabers and Mavericks in Bismarck. On Saturday, the Blue Jay girls are scheduled to wrestle at the Central Cass Invite while the boys will travel to Minot to take on Minot United.

While the Blue Jays only put up a fraction of Bismarck High's points on Thursday, there were still some shining moments for both teams.

Seventh-grader Hope Sjostrom got all six of the Blue Jay girls' points with a pin of the Demons' Lauralie Fuchs. Sjostrom got the pin at the 3:22 mark.

In the boys' dual, Cole Anderson, earned a technical fall against Bismarck High's Ervin Turner to secure five of the Jays' 11 points. At 152 pounds, Ryker Stoddart collected a pin against Mark Bauman.

"Cole Anderson wrestled a great match with his tech fall win at 127 pounds," Schlosser said. "Ryker Stoddart had an impressive comeback after being down seven points in the first period to pin his opponent. Jaxsen Morris lost a close decision to his opponent at 189 pounds. Overall, the team came together and put on a good show for the crowd win or lose."
