Blue Jackets Roll Islanders In Season Finale For 6th Straight Win

Cole Sillinger(11), Dante Fabbro(9), Dmitri Voronkov(23), Sean Kuraly(6), Zach Werenski(23), and Adam Fantilli(31) powered the offense for Columbus, while Jet Greaves made 36 saves on 37 shots to pick up his 5th win in a row, and the teams 6th straight.

On an emotional night at Nationwide Arena, the Blue Jackets left no doubt. They poured on the goals in the second period to put away the Islanders and cruise to victory, sending a teary-eyed crowd home on a high note.

Towards the end of the game, fans started chanting Johnny Hockey, and that's when people in the arena started getting emotional and knowing that the players did everything they could to play for their fallen brother and get the win. After the game, Johnny B. Goode blasted over the speakers as well.

Yes, they came up just short in getting into the playoffs, but this season will be looked at as a success, and those players should hold their heads high going into the summer.

Columbus finished the season 40-33-9 with 89 points and 4th in the Metro.

The Jackets assigned Jet Greaves and Denton Mateychuk back to the Cleveland Monsters after the game.

• Zach Werenski, with his two points, is now tied for second in all-time points by a Jacket in a single season. He also sits atop the list with Artemi Panarin with 59 assists in a season. His 23 goals are also the best ever for a Columbus defenseman.
• Adam Fantilli, at 20 years old, led the Jackets in goals with 31. He tied Marchenko in goals. He finished the year with 6 goals in the final 4 games, including two multi-goal games.
• Jet Greaves won his last 5 starts, going 5-0 with two shutouts and giving up just 4 goals. In those five games he also had a .978 SV%.
• Columbus scored 6+ goals at NWA 13 times in 41 games.
