BREAKING: The #Dbacks acquire RHP Kade Strowd for UTIL Blaze Alexander.

Strowd is a fun arm with impressive velocity. Cut-fastball is disgusting, and pairs well with impressive breaking ball shapes on his sweeper and curveball.

Diamondbacks will be looking trade/free agency for a Blaze Alexander replacement - someone who can play 3B/2B. Could also be looking for LF help with Blaze's departure - as of now have Jordan Lawlar, Tim Tawa, Alex Thomas and Jorge Barrosa to man outfield positions with Corbin Carroll until Lourdes Gurriel returns. Gurriel is making good progress could be back sooner than originally anticipated.

The last piece of the #Dbacks deal is Jose Mejia, a 2B prospect who impressed in his CPX league stint:

.274 AVG / .418 OBP / .411 SLG (.829 OPS)
.416 wOBA | 132 wRC+
16.5% BB% | 10.1% K%
84.8% Contact% | 5.7% SwStr%

An extremely tools contact hitter!

Mike Hazen: "I think Blaze obviously was gonna play a role on our team in a number of different ways ...  we feel like we're gonna need to replace some of that externally ... and there are some internal guys that will step into some of those roles."

It's mind numbing we have dumped real draft capital into SS (Lawlar) and 2B (Troy) and both aren't even in the discussion of replacing a utility infielder

It's nice to get a good bullpen arm (how long he stays good or healthy is our neverending question here) but it does suck to lose Blaze. Especially given his versatility and it looked like he was starting to put things together after his call up last year.

I hope he thrives like Varsho has and hopefully Strowd works out.
