Mayssa Bastos, one of the most decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) stars today, has added another accolade to her ever growing resume by winning gold at the 2nd ADCC South American Trials.

Still just 28, Bastos is already a legend in her own right, having won 10 IBJJF world titles across both gi and no gi. The dominant BJJ champion has won at least one IBJJF world title every year since 2018, along with taking a couple of belts from WNO, ONE and EBI. The only major championship that’s not on her decorated resume is an ADCC world title, and she has now taken the first steps into trying to achieve that goal.

Bastos, a roosterweight champion (48.5 kg with the gi, 46.5 kg in no gi), has been severely undersized in ADCC, which only recently started a 55 kg division. After moving up a division 15 lbs heavier, Bastos won gold this past weekend in Indaiatuba, Brazil.

She won four matches, and never conceded a single point en route to winning her second ADCC trials title.

As this was the second leg of the ADCC South American Trials (women from the first one don’t get invites) Bastos was also able to secure a spot for ADCC 2026. Joining her are two other women who won at the under 65 kg and over 65 kg divisions in Livia Correa and Yana Soares.

In the men’s side of things, Kaua Gabriel won six matches to win a deep 66 kg bracket, joining his two other teammates from Melqui Galvao’s gym to win ADCC 2026 invites. Also standing out from the event is BJJ world champ Gustavo Batista, who landed four submissions in five wins, beating the likes of Magid Hage and Charles Negromonte at the 88 kg division.
