On Monday, the Buffalo Bills held their first training camp practice at the team’s facilities since leaving St. John Fisher University late last week.

On a day where rain and lightning once again hovered over the practice, the Bills conducted their drills inside the Kaleida Health Performance Center. Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off with the latest news and observations from camp, including how defensive lineman Ed Oliver was all over the field, consistently disrupting Josh Allen and the Bills offense.

Oliver dominates, injuries mount during Monday’s practice session

With the Bills back in pads on Monday, Ed Oliver enjoyed a tremendous performance during the 11-on-11 sessions, posting “at least two sacks” while proving “impossible to guard,” according to Matt Parrino of newyorkupstate.com.

What else stood out to Bills beat reporters from Day 8 of camp? Injuries are beginning to add up, especially in the secondary, where several starters missed practice, including safety Cole Bishop and cornerback Maxwell Hairston. Running back Ty Johnson, wide receiver Skyler Bell, defensive tackle Zane Durant, and punter Mitch Wishnowsky were among the other Bills to sit out the session.

Then, once practice began, starting safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who had previously sat out two practices with a strained right calf, left practice early after breaking up a pass in the end zone.

With several defensive backs sidelined, Dee Alford and Jordan Hancock showcased their skills while playing with the first-team defense; embattled wide receiver Keon Coleman flashed his skills as a threat in the red zone; and Lloyd Cushenberry fared well filling in for the injured Connor McGovern at center.
