It's been nearly four months since North Carolina football head coach Bill Belichick was snubbed from first-ballot enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The 74-year-old former New England Patriots head coach finally addressed the controversy during a recent interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News.
"Well, (it) is out of my control. And, you know, honestly, I’ve been very focused on my job at the University of North Carolina and the players and, you know, the University there," Belichick said. "So, whatever happens, happens. But, I’m proud of what we accomplished as teams at New England and certainly at the Giants, and proud of those relationships. So, that’s what matters the most."
Belichick received heavy support in the wake of the shocking omission, including from Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells.
"It was great to hear that support from so many people and from so many different fields, not just football but many others and so I was very appreciative of that support and the positive comments that they made," he said.
Belichick wasn't alone among Patriots legends to fall short of enshrinement this year, as longtime owner Robert Kraft was also surprisingly left out.
