The Oklahoma Sooners possessed one of the youngest offensive lines in college football for much of last season. The Sooners started three freshmen: Michael Fasusi, Ryan Fodje and redshirt freshman Eddy Pierre-Louis.
Now, all of those three are back for another season in the Crimson and Cream, including starting center Jake Maikkula. On top of that, the Sooners added a veteran in the transfer portal, E'Marion Harris, who started 24 games for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh said the experience Fasusi, Fodje and Pierre-Louis got last season will be invaluable this season.
"O-line is never easy," Bill Bedenbaugh via SoonerScoop's George Stoia on X. " I don't care how much experience you have. But, obviously, it makes it easier. You look at a guy like Mike Fasusi and Ryan Fodje; they turned 18 mid-July last year. They just turned 19... You look at a guy like Fodje having to start at guard and tackle. You don't want to do that to a young guy. Even experienced guys... You can't replace experience. You can't replace going through the process."
The biggest question surrounding Oklahoma's offensive line last season was whether the young players could handle the pressure of competing in the SEC. While there were some growing pains, those same players now enter 2026 with valuable experience against some of the best defensive fronts in the country.
If Fasusi, Fodje and Pierre-Louis can take the next step in their development, and Harris provides the veteran stability the group lacked, the offensive line could become one of the biggest reasons Oklahoma's offense improves. A more consistent front would not only help quarterback John Mateer stay protected but could also unlock a more balanced offense capable of complementing Brent Venables' championship-caliber defense.
