At the start of the first season in the NBA for rookie Boston Celtics forward Hugo Gonzalez, the primary question most analysts were asking about the former Real Madrid reserve was whether he would spend the season mostly playing at the G League level or if he might see some significant time with the parent club at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
But the Madrid native has since managed to dispel any chatter of it being wise to send him to Portland to play with the Maine Celtics, and instead acquitted himself as a bona fide NBA player enough that there was significant debate as to whether he should played more in the postseason. Gonzalez logged 3.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the floor overall, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc, and (oddly) 50 percent from the free throw line in his first year in the league.
