Bernardo Silva ‘very close’ to signing two-year contract with Barcelona

Talk of a Barcelona move for Bernardo Silva is growing louder following the midfielder’s departure from Manchester City.

The latest update comes from Foot Mercato and a new ‘exclusive’ that states Barcelona “are on the verge” of landing the Portugal international.

Bernardo is being tipped to sign a contract until 2028, with the option for another year, after Hansi Flick gave the transfer the green light.

Agent Jorge Mendes is now putting the final touches to an agreement with Barcelona regarding salary and bonuses.

Atletico Madrid had also been keen on signing Bernardo, but the player has reportedly made it clear that his preference has always been to join the Catalan club.

If Bernardo does end up picking Barca over Atletico it will potentially annoy Diego Simeone’s side further.

Los Colchoneros have also expressed their frustration with Barca over the continued speculation about a summer move for Argentina international Julian Alvarez.
