HAMMOND, La. – Coleton Benson delivered in the final seconds of the contest, drilling his fourth three-pointer of the game to lift the Privateers to a 79-76 victory over the Southeastern.
Benson was the team-leading scorer with 30 points, his second 30-point performance of the season.
The back-and-forth contest featured 16 ties and 19 lead changes.
The Privateers controlled the glass, out-rebounding Southeastern 44-36, while showcasing a strong defensive showing, holding the Lions to 36.1 percent shooting from the field.
Lions’ Isaiah Gaines paced Southeastern with 18 points, while Jalen Forrest added 12.
Next up, UNO will host Stephen F. Austin this weekend while Southeastern is on the road at Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
