In an interview with Front Office Sports, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco explained why he's not a fan of the NFL potentially moving to an 18-game regular season.

"What happens when we go to 18? Are they gonna want 20? Are they gonna want 22? We used to play 14 games before I was even born," Flacco said. "At some point it has to stop."

Flacco also said that an extra game during the regular season could impact a team's health when the postseason rolls around.

"It's gotta stop at some point. What happens when we go to 18 [games]? Are they going to want 20?"

"I don't think people realize that when you have to put guys through an 18-game regular season schedule, I think what could happen is that the playoffs start to suffer," Flacco said. "You get teams that are so beat up by that point in the year that they're not really at their best."

It seems inevitable that an 18-game NFL regular season will be included in the next collective bargaining agreement between the league and its players.

"If we're asked to play 18 games, I think you're not gonna see much difference," Flacco said. "We're just gonna have to do it and that is what it is."

Flacco, 41, is entering his 19th season in the NFL after re-signing with the Bengals last month on a one-year, $6 million deal.

In six starts with the Bengals last season, Flacco threw for 1,664 yards and 13 touchdowns against four interceptions.
