Benches Clear In Red Sox-Yankees Rivalry Game At Fenway Park originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
It doesn't take much to set off a game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. On Friday night, it was Willson Contreras pimping a walk the ignited a benches-clearing discussion between the two biggest rivals in Major League Baseball.

It was Yankees 27-year-old starting pitcher Will Warren, who had allowed a run in three of the four innings prior to the altercation, who took special exception to Contreras' walk celebration.
NESN play-by-play broadcaster Dave O'Brien reminded fans that Contreras has flipped his bat on each of his 30 walks this season.
The crowd erupted while watching both the bullpens storm the diamond on a beautiful Friday night at Fenway Park.
There were no punches thrown, and eventually Contreras even embraced 36-year-old relief pitcher Fernando Cruz as each team retreated to their clubhouse.
It is also worth noting that the Yankees' lineup was still searching for its first hit after being utterly dominated in the first five innings by the Red Sox's 23-year-old rookie starting pitcher Payton Tolle.
Patience was probably stretched thin for the first-place Yankees, who were well on their way to dropping a second straight game to Boston.
