Bemidji runs to 3rd, 9th places at Perham invite

Oct. 9—PERHAM — In its penultimate section tune-up, the Bemidji High School cross country team competed in Perham for the second time this season on Thursday.

The boys took third place with a team score of 105, while the girls finished in ninth place with 226 points.

Tanner Johnson took 14th place with a time of 16:39.9. He was followed closely by Caleb Knott (16:51.0, 17th), Blake DeWitt (16:52.4, 18th) and William Ames (16:53.4, 19th), who all clocked top-20 finishes.

Deven Bentler (17:29.7, 42nd), Kyle Millar (17:32.5, 44th) and Daniel Scherling (17:39.8, 46th) rounded out the day for the BHS boys.

On the girls side, Chloe Derby led the way for the Jacks in 14th, finishing with a time of 19:27.8. Claire Story wasn't far behind in 27th at 19:45.3.

Abigail Olson (20:18.5, 40th), Adeline Runnigen (21:34.7, 72nd), Brenalen Fredriksen-Holm (21:51.8, 78th), Layney Anderson (21:53.3, 79th) and Olivia Birt (22:41.3, 98th) also raced for the Lumberjacks.

Bemidji will host its lone home meet at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13, at Greenwood Golf Course.
