Kim Mulkey said in a recent interview that all her players but Divine Bourrage were coming back to play for LSU in 2026-27.
Turns out that's not the case. And while it's not clear what Mulkey did or didn't know, Bella Hines has made that statement look bad.
On Tuesday, Hines entered the transfer portal.
She posted on her Instagram about the decision:

Hines was a huge get for LSU when she committed to the Tigers in the Class of 2025.
She was a top-25 recruit in her class, one of the most well-known players to enter college basketball this season.
Instead, she didn't play much, averaging 4.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. She averaged 13 minutes per game.
Hines creates an unexpected gap at the guard position for LSU.
Maybe more notably, though, she'll be a huge name that wasn't expected to be in the portal. If another program plays their cards right, they could get Hines for three seasons, which would be a massive snag.
