Apr. 1—MARSHALL — Beau Thoma is still red hot.

The Bemidji State baseball team's junior shortstop extended his hitting streak to 22 games on Tuesday in a split against Southwest Minnesota State. The Beavers beat the Mustangs 7-4 in Game 1 before falling 4-1 in the series finale.

The games were slated to be hosted in Bemidji but were moved to Marshall due to weather and field conditions.

Thoma went 3-for-4 at the plate in the first game with a double. He went 1-for-4 in Game 2. Thoma is four games away from matching the longest hitting streak in BSU history.

Noah Drusch hit his team-leading 10th home run this season, which is tied for the most in the NSIC with Minnesota Crookston's Jackson Fliflet and Wayne State's Nate Cunningham.

SMSU (15-14, 5-12 NSIC) starting pitcher Ryan Bell threw eight innings in Game 2, surrendering just one earned run on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Bemidji State improved to 6-21 this season with a 3-13 mark in NSIC play.
