The Chicago Bears added eight new rookies to the roster during the 2025 NFL draft, which included some offensive playmakers and potential hidden gems in the trenches and on defense.

That started with the selection of tight end Colston Loveland at 10th overall and continuing with some Day 2 studs in receiver Luther Burden III, offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo and defensive tackle Shemar Turner in the second round. Chicago also landed some potential late-round gems in linebacker Ruben Hyppolite, cornerback Zah Frazier, guard Luke Newman and running back Kyle Monangai on Day 3.

Chicago has been praised for their 2025 draft class -- although there was some pushback with the selection of Hyppolite in the fourth round -- and earned solid marks across the board. In fact, the Bears' draft class landed among the Top 10 from Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema garnering an A-.

Chicago's draft grade heavily depends on what you think of Luther Burden III and Shemar Turner. To the delight of Bears fans, I like both. Picking Loveland over Tyler Warren is fine, as both were top 20 prospects to me. Burden was my WR2, and Ben Johnson can push him to be the best version of himself. He will get a lot of natural work in the slot.

Trapilo is not as much of a lean into the zone blocking scheme I thought the Beras would run more of, but he’s great value for them as a reserve tackle. Hyppolite, Frazier and Newman are good bets on athletes, though all were drafted a bit early. I was surprised that Chicago didn't attack running back before the seventh round, but I do like Monangai — if nothing else, as a strong pass-protecting, third-down back.

When looking at the first draft class for new head coach Ben Johnson it's easy to see the vision, especially on offense. He added two playmakers in Loveland and Burden who will play immediate roles, an offensive lineman in Trapilo who will compete for the starting left tackle job and a running back in Kyle Monangai who can challenge for carries as a rookie.
