The Chicago Bears have had an impactful offseason that's featured a number of big additions. But there's none more important than the hiring of head coach Ben Johnson, who's tasked with righting the ship after a season of disfunction.
Johnson is one of the brightest minds in the NFL, as evidenced by him developing the Detroit Lions into the league's best offense, and now he'll work on developing Caleb Williams into the franchise quarterback Chicago has longed for. But it's not only Johnson's offensive prowess that made him an attractive addition but the winning standard that he's bringing to the entire locker room.
CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan examined every team's biggest reason for optimism heading into the 2025 season, and it's no surprise that Johnson was dubbed the most impactful addition for Chicago.
As a first-time head coach, Johnson has also implemented an experienced, talented coaching staff, led by defensive coordinator (and former NFL head coach) Dennis Allen. But Johnson also added some ascending talent, including offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, assistant head coach/receivers coach Antwaan Randle El and defensive backs coach Al Harris.
Johnson's fingerprints are all over the roster, as well, which included the offseason acquisitions of guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson and center Drew Dalman, as well as the draft selections of tight end Colston Loveland and receiver Luther Burden III.
Johnson is building this team the way he wants to after learning from his time with the Lions, so it's no surprise that expectations are high for the Bears heading into the 2025 season.

Arguably, the biggest addition throughout this entire offseason was the Chicago Bears landing Ben Johnson as head coach. In just his first offseason at the helm, you can already see his imprint on the roster with Chicago bolstering its offensive line and adding an array of weapons for second-year quarterback Caleb Williams. Johnson has shown us during his days as the Lions' offensive coordinator that he's a tremendous play caller, and that is widely expected to translate to being a head coach. Chicago's days in the dumps may be a thing of the past.
