Who has the power?

The NFL draft kicks off on April 24. Teams have restructured rosters through free agency and trying to make some deals that will help. There are those who boosted themselves while others are struggling. One will find those teams at the top of the first round. Although there are some squads that have plummeted because of the way they finished the 2024 season and where they stand now.

32. Cleveland Browns

In addition to finishing last in the AFC North in 2024, the Browns have a quarterback room that features Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco. That bodes for another doormat end this season no matter who they choose with the second pick in the draft and after that.

31. New York Giants

The idea of going into a season with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston as your game plan at QB is beyond laughable. One is way beyond his prime and the other should be replacing Michael Vick on FOX's NFL pregame set.

30. Tennessee Titans

Willing to give Tennessee a break from the depths of the Power Rankings because they seem set on drafting Cam Ward with the first pick. Unlike the teams below them, the Titans at least are grasping how awful their QB situation is.

29. New Orleans Saints

As long as we are on the topic of quarterbacks, good of Derek Carr to loop New Orleans in on fact he continues to have shoulder woes and could need surgery that would make him a non-entity for the 2025 season. There is one positive: He has not done much since coming to the Big Easy and now the Saints can focus on drafting a quarterback at nine or moving up for one. An amazing factoid: The only QB New Orleans has drafted in the first round was: Archie Manning.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars should be thankful the Titans are in the AFC South. That gives them a chance to avoid finishing last. Not sure Nick Mullens does much behind Trevor Lawrence. It feels like a make-or-break season for the QB Jacksonville hoped would be a franchise quarterback. He hasn't been and with the players around him the odds are long that he will be in 2025.;

27. New York Jets

While it would be nice for Justin Fields to finally show that he is a starting QB in the NFL, the fact is this is his third team and he has been in the league all of four years. Aaron Glenn steps into a job with a franchise that has been doom and gloom since Super Bowl III. The sun won't be shining over MetLife in 2025 by the looks of things.

26. Chicago Bears

Ben Johnson understands what it takes to rebuild. He has brought in significant pieces on the O-line to try and protect Caleb Williams. A huge factor is Johnson understanding from his time in Detroit success and culture change doesn't happen overnight. Don't judge him by the early results. Look for baby steps before big ones.

25. New England Patriots

Mike Vrabel is the person who has to rebuild a franchise that once was a dynasty and now is struggling.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers

This could change dramatically if Aaron Rodgers signs with the Steelers. Hold on, there is no guarantee a quarterback who will be 42 in December can fix anything. He's old and coming off his worst season. Mike Tomlin is a great coach. The plan might be to go after Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe or Shedeur Sanders rather than setting this proud franchise back by thinking the past is the present.

23. Las Vegas Raiders

We will give the genius that is Pete Carroll a chance to fix everything that is broken in Sin City. Geno Smith is nothing more than a patch at quarterback. No knock on the veteran but this team is so far from being a threat that a quarterback who will be 35 in October isn't a miracle worker.

22. Indianapolis Colts

Yes, this conversation is dominated by quarterbacks as opposed to free-agent signings or other moves. If your QB situation is unstable, everything else falls apart. The entire offseason was a chance to bolster the belief that Anthony Richardson can and will resolve the issue. There doesn't feel like that is the case and if so expect more Indy mediocrity. Daniel Jones? ha.

21. Dallas Cowboys

Good to know Dak Prescott could play if there were games today. That means he would be available for a UFL team. He's not that bad, of course. He isn't going to lead the Cowboys to the Super Bowl. Brian Schottenheimer isn't, either. The Jones family needs to do what the Giants did decades ago when they were fortunate enough to turn the team's decisions to George Young.

20. San Francisco 49ers

Don't expect them to be 6-11 or have the infirmary injury report every week that happened in 2024. That said, there is no guaranteed from week-to-week Christian McCaffrey can stay on the field. The fuse on Kyle Shanahan still has room but it could burn quickly with another disastrous season.

19. Carolina Panthers

There was plenty of reason to doubt everyone and everything in Carolina. However, Dave Canales moved the team in the right direction. Bryce Young showed signs after a terrible rookie season. Are these Panthers going to be the next coming of the Detroit Lions? Uncertain at this point. However, they are in an awful decision and can move up by sticking to the game plan and getting better by the week.

18. Miami Dolphins

Quite simply until this franchise proves it can compete against contenders it is what it is: Mediocre and no threat to make a deep playoff run.

17. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons got a head start on the future when they benched Kirk Cousins and started Michael Penix Jr. That showed Raheem Morris understood there was a $180 million mistake made. Such decisions can not happen again if this team wants to make huge gains. Everyone points to Deshaun Watson as an awful decision but signing Cousins to that kind of contract would rival it if the Falcons hadn't perplexed everyone by drafting Penix.

16. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks moved off Smith and opened the bank for Sam Darnold. They traded DK Metcalf and let Tyler Lockett go. Then, they brought in Cooper Kupp and some other help. Darnold likely was in a perfect situation with what surrounded him in Minnesota. This isn't that.

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The last time the Bucs didn't win the NFC South was Tom Brady's first season when he led them to the Super Bowl. Four straight division titles have led to four straight wild-card or divisional round exits. All that says is the team is solid enough to thrive in a putrid division and can put on a show in the playoff for a round, maybe.

14. Denver Broncos

The temptation is to bump up Denver higher. Bo Nix proved Sean Payton right with his rookie performance. Will there be a sophomore jinx or will the Broncos continue to thrive via their guiding light of a coach?

13. Arizona Cardinals

The NFC West is intriguing because you can pick apart or like every team in it for different reasons. The Cardinals make progress inch by inch. It feels like time for Jonathan Gannon to prove this is a playoff team and not one that becomes a spoiler on occasion. Won't be shocked if Arizona wins double-digit games.

12. Los Angeles Rams

There were all sorts of NFL rumors in the offseason about Matthew Stafford being traded. In the end, the veteran stayed put. Davante Adams is in and Cooper Kupp is out. Would not be surprised if the Rams regress and fall from this spot. No idea how much Stafford has left. Sean McVay has to hope it is a lot. Drafting a QB would be prudent.

11. Minnesota Vikings

Way too much quarterback uncertainty to believe the Vikings will repeat their 2024 performance.

10. Houston Texans

You must be registered for see images attach

The Texans are going for an AFC South hat trick. They couldn't surprise anyone last year the way they did in '23. All sorts of receiver injuries disoriented the offense. Give C.J. Stroud some healthy targets and the team can improve and be a deep playoff threat.

9. Washington Commanders

Dan Quinn's team was marvelous last year. Repeating that success won't be as simple because opponents won't take them lightly. Jayden Daniels is a marvel. Let's hope he stays healthy.

8. Los Angeles Chargers

Jim Harbaugh did an incredible job changing culture with the Bolts. They still had their moments especially when clobbered by the Texans in the wild-card round. Willing to consider they will get better and the Chiefs will come back to the AFC West pack.

7. Cincinnati Bengals

You must be registered for see images attach

This is the pick of dread. Will the Bengals finally perform over a 17-game season the way they did at the end of last year? Or are they doomed to repeat slow starts and bury themselves? This is the last chance to dance up the standings in the AFC North for Zac Taylor.

6. Green Bay Packers

You must be registered for see images attach

Like what Matt LaFleur does every year. The Vikings are going to slip. The Bears are nowhere near ready to menace. So, the issue is whether the coach and his team can tackle the task of muzzling the Lions.

5. Kansas City Chiefs

You must be registered for see images

This isn't because they were crushed in the Super Bowl. Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes & Co. will likely dominate the AFC West as they have for so many years. Not sure they are prepared to win the conference again.

4. Buffalo Bills

You must be registered for see images attach

We shall start them hear and hope for the best for #BillsMafia. Buffalo is a team you have a hard time picking against because it is so dominant in the division and just can't get over the top and into the Super Bowl. Josh Allen and the Bills alway have a chance. Time to grab it.

3. Philadelphia Eagles

Can hear the boos already from the City of Brotherly Love. There has been so much change in the defense it is hard to know what Nick Sirianni will be working with when the 2025 season starts. Remember, this is the NFC East where teams don't repeat. Winning the Super Bowl was great. Repeating is another thing.

2. Baltimore Ravens

John Harbaugh guides this team every year through every hurdle and pothole. Derrick Henry is a year older but given his fitness routine he should have another big season in front of him.

1. Detroit Lions

This has to happen sometime, right? Maybe in 2025?
