In the final minute of W.F. West's game against Timberline in Lacey on Friday night, the Bearcats were clinging on to a seven-point lead, and the Blazers were threatening to tie the game.

Timberline got the touchdown to get within one, but instead of kicking the extra point, the offense stayed on the field to go for the win.

The Bearcat defense stood strong, as Josh Vigre came away with a sack on the conversion attempt to help W.F. West finish off a 28-27 road victory.

"Ecstatic," W.F. West coach Dan Hill said. "The defensive backs and linebackers did a great job in coverage, the d-line got a great rush and a great sack to end that game."

It wasn't the only defensive stop of the game, as Hill added they had three other red zone stops earlier in the game to help W.F. West grab the lead in the fourth quarter.

"Tremendous defensive effort," Hill said. "Backs against the wall, they did a fabulous job."

Wyatt Hoffman impressed again, tallying 371 total yards and three total touchdowns, including a 95-yard pick six that opened the scoring.

Holden Kunz had 127 receiving yards on seven catches, Jalen Amoroso added 55 yards on four receptions, and Connor Coleman logged 37 yards on three catches, including a touchdown. Miles Martin also added a rushing touchdown.

"I'm just proud of the adversity our team had to overcome today," Hill said. "They stuck together, stuck to the game plan, and came out with a win at the end of the day."

W.F. West (2-1) will be on the road again next Friday, Sept. 26, to face Shelton before returning home on Oct. 3 to host Aberdeen in the EvCo opener.
