Wilson state champion McKaden Speece leads a group of 15 wrestlers who were voted to the 2026 BCIAA Boys All-Conference wrestling team by the conference’s coaches.

Speece, the all-time leader in Berks history in career wins, wrapped up a stellar scholastic career on Saturday night by winning the 172-pound Class 3A title at the PIAA Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey.

He was named the Athlete of the Year.

Exeter’s Kevin Oswalt was named the 3A Ironman of the Year with Tyden Shuman of Berks Catholic the Class 2A Ironman. Wilson’s Jason Gibble was voted the Coach of the Year.

Speece is one of six Bulldogs to make the team, which features four other state medalists.

Here is the 2026 BCIAA Boys Wrestling All-Conference Team:

McKaden Speece, senior, Wilson: The Naval Academy commit will go down in Berks wrestling history as one of the greatest ever. He finished as the all-time leader in career wins with 198 and was 55-1 this season. He became Wilson’s first state champion since 1982 in dramatic fashion, needing overtime to beat Central Bucks West’s Chris Henry 4-1. He won three state medals in his time as a Bulldog, finishing fifth at 127 as a sophomore and fourth at 145 as a junior.

Abramm Schaffer, senior, Wilson: Another Bulldog with more than 160 career wins, Schaffer finished fifth at 121 pounds at the state tournament, winning his first PIAA medal. He was the South Central Regional champion, finishing the season with a 46-8 record and a 162-38 career mark.

Kevin Oswalt, junior, Exeter: The two-time state qualifier finished out of the medals this season at 285 after making the states at 215 the year before. He was second in the region this year and ended the season 45-5 and stands at 125-29 entering his senior year.

Ethan Brownback, junior, Wilson: Another junior in the upper weights who excelled this winter, Brownback made his second trip to the state tournament at 215, but did not medal. He was third in the region and 37-8 this season with a career mark of 101-49.

Patrick Steuer, junior, Gov. Mifflin: Made his first state tournament after placing fourth in the regional at 133 pounds. Finished the season with a 39-12 record and heads into 2026-27 just seven wins shy of 100 for his career – 93-29.

Anthony Montegari, junior, Gov. Mifflin: Like his teammate Patrick Steuer, made his first trip to Hershey this season after placing fourth at 160 in the regionals. He also has the same number of career wins as Steuer, with a 93-25 career mark. He was 35-7 this season.

Justin McGarrigle, senior, Conrad Weiser: Wrapped up his scholastic career with his first trip to Hershey. He was fourth in the regional at 152 and finished the season with a 41-7 record, going 140-50 for his career.

Rhys Schaffer, freshman, Wilson: Chalked up 35 wins and advanced to the state tournament at 107 pounds in his rookie season. He was fifth at the regional and heads into his sophomore season with a 35-18 record and loads of experience from a trip to Hershey.

Charlie Griffin, junior, Wilson: Earned his first trip to the state tournament with a fifth-place finish in the regional at 133 pounds. Did not place in Hershey and enters his senior season with a 70-44 career record after going 38-19 this year.

Tyden Shuman, sophomore, Berks Catholic: Already at 80 career wins after two seasons of high school wrestling, Shuman won his first 2A state medal this winter. He was eighth at 121 after placing second in the regional. As a freshman, he was fifth in the region but did not place at states. Was 38-14 this season after going 40-12 as a freshman.

Chase Homan, senior, Hamburg: A four-time 2A state qualifier and two-time medalist, he moved up one spot on the podium this year to fifth at 133 pounds after taking sixth a year before at 121. He was second in the regional this year and finishes his career with a 140-27 record after going 46-6 this season.

Layden Acevedo, sophomore, Berks Catholic: Made the most out of his second trip to the state tournament by placing fourth at 160 pounds in the 2A tourney. Won the regional and finished the season 40-8, giving him a two-year record of 83-19.

Jacob Mackie, sophomore, Oley Valley: Got his first taste of the state tournament after placing fourth in the 2A regional at 145 pounds. After going 41-11 this season, enters his junior season with a career record of 79-28.

Troy Ruffner, junior, Tulpehocken: Already over 100 wins as a junior, Ruffner made his first trip to Hershey at 189 pounds in the 2A tourney. He was fifth in the regional and had a 39-6 record this season and is 101-28 heading into his senior year.

Isaac Eidle, senior, Wilson: Was 29-18 this season and ended his career with 101-76 record after placing sixth in the regional at 127 pounds.
