Bayern Munich women's team retained their Bundesliga title early with a hard-fought 3-2 win at Union Berlin on Wednesday.

After a club-record 19th consecutive victory in the Women's Bundesliga, the Munich side can no longer be knocked off top spot with four matches still to play.

The success comes three days after the Bayern men retained their title. Both sides are still in the running for every trophy this season.

It is a fourth straight women's championship for Bayern. The winning goal was scored by Germany captain Giulia Gwinn.

Bayern women next have a Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona on Saturday.

They also face big rivals VfL Wolfsburg in the German women's Cup final on May 14.
