Alphonso Davies is currently recovering from an injury ahead of his home nation Canada co-hosting the World Cup alongside Mexico and the United States. There’s an interesting update coming out of the Canada Men’s National Team: the Bayern Munich left-back has been added to the preliminary roster:

Alphonso Davies has been named in Canada’s preliminary squad that will report to the training camp in Charlotte, North Carolina, starting on May 25. Given injuries, players will report to camp in line with communications with their respective clubs and medical staffs, with player fitness as the priority, whether reporting in Charlotte or thereafter ahead of the competition period beginning 7 June. The final squad will be announced on May 29.
BFW Commentary
With people torn between keeping Davies in Munich for his rehab and letting him go to witness his nation being a World Cup host, all I can say is I hope Davies makes the correct decision. Yes, Canada needs him, but so does Bayern. The 25-year-old still has a long career ahead of him, and for it to get jeopardized because of a costly decision won’t be a great look.
