Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer continued working on his comeback from a calf muscle injury with an extra individual session on Easter Monday.

While the team officially had Sunday and Monday off after Saturday's 4-0 victory at Heidenheim, Neuer and defender Dayot Upamecano, sidelined with a knee problem, trained on their own at the training centre.

Neuer injured his calf in a March 5 Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen and has been sidelined this since. Coach Vincent Kompany has not said when he will be able to return.

Young January signing Jonas Urbig has deputised for Neuer since then and named the period "a big step" for him since arriving from the subs' bench of second division leaders Cologne.

Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said the 21-year-old has "huge potential" and midfielder Joshua Kimmich said that Urbig could "definitely" take over from Neuer, who is 39 and has a contract until 2026, once the former Germany keeper retires.

Bayern lead the Bundesliga eight points ahead of defending champions Bayer Leverkusen and could reclaim the title as early as Saturday, if they beat Mainz and Leverkusen fail to win against Augsburg.
