Max Eberl is doing a good job as Bayern Munich board member for sport but it remains to be seen whether his contract will be renewed beyond 2027, honorary president Uli Hoeness has said.
Hoeness said at an event by Der Spiegel news magazine that there was a tendency of "60-40 in favour of a renewal" but also that "there are doubts."
Eberl has been at Bayern since the spring of 2024 on a contract until June 30, 2027.
Bayern won back to back Bundesliga titles 2025 and 2026 and can win a first German Cup title since 2020 later Saturday. Players signed during his term include forwards Michael Olise and Luis Diaz.
Eberl said recently he was willing to stay on.
"It wasn't easy in the beginning. But now we have set very, very good things in motion. My job should be judged. And if they like my job then I am ready to stay at Bayern for a longer time," he said.
Hoeness said that Eberl "has a big share in this season's success" and that for legal reasons renewal talks for board members can only start from July 1.
He said he doesn't want to go into details because it was up to the supvervisory board, which meets in August, to decide "whether Eberl is the manager to lead Bayern into the future."
