Making up for a three-game series defeat against Oklahoma State last weekend, TCU baseball brought its own brooms out at Lupton Stadium, sweeping its three-game Big 12 series with Utah and eclipsing the 30-win mark on the season. The Horned Frogs (32-18, 16-11 Big 12) conclude the regular season against West Virginia before beginning the conference tournament. The Mountaineers are currently second in the Big 12 standings.
Friday: TCU 3, Utah 0
Colton Griffin’s two-run single in the fifth inning helped secure the series opener against the Utes on Friday. In his first start since suffering an injury earlier in the season, right-hander Tommy LaPour took the mound and fired three innings, striking out three and holding Utah to one hit. LaPour earned the win, improving to 1-1.

Trever Baumler and Mason Brassfield combined for five scoreless frames of relief. Baumler pitched three innings, striking out two and working around one walk and two hits. Brassfield struck out two over two perfect frames and Tanner Sagouspe struck out the side in the top of the ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the season.
Griffin went 2-for-4 to lead the TCU offense, who finished with eight hits. Preston Gamster doubled and Sawyer Strosnider, who scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning, went 1-for-4 with a triple.
Saturday: TCU 3, Utah 1
Sawyer Strosnider’s solo home run in the bottom of the fourth tied the score for the Horned Frogs, who added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure their victory on Saturday. Cole Cramer and Rob Liddington each hit RBI singles to aid the TCU offense, which compiled eight hits in the win. Liddington went 2-for-4 with two singles and Nolan Traeger went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Jack Bell went 1-for-4 with a double.

Lance Davis twirled perhaps his best outing of the season. The right-hander spun a complete game while striking out four and holding the Utes to one earned run on six hits. Davis improved to 4-3 on the season with the victory.
Sunday: TCU 4, Utah 3
A three-run second inning and one run in the third inning helped the Horned Frogs secure their series finale on Sunday. Preston Gamster went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the second, while Sawyer Strosnider, Chase Brunson and Nolan Traeger each finished with two hits. Jack Bell drew a pair of walks for TCU, which recorded 10 hits.

Mason Brassfield, who pitched two scoreless innings of relief, earned the win and improved to 4-3 on the season. Nate Stern relieved Zack James in the fourth and helped TCU right the ship, holding the Utes scoreless over two and two-thirds innings while striking out two and working around three walks. Tanner Sagouspe locked down his fifth save of the season, striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.
