Resuming play in the top of the ninth inning on Wednesday, No. 17 TCU completed a 9-4 victory over Kansas in a midweek nonconference matchup. The Horned Frogs (10-6), who begin Big 12 play with a three-game series at Arizona State on Friday, held a seven-run lead before a rain storm Tuesday evening caused a suspension of play.

Zack James earned the victory on the mound, improving to 2-0 on the season. James fired four and two-thirds innings while striking out five batters without a walk and holding Kansas to one hit. Trever Baumler started on the mound Tuesday evening, logging a scoreless frame before Nolan Johnson worked around three walks to log two and one-third innings without allowing a run. Walter Quinn recorded the final two outs on Wednesday.

Leading 1-0 after one inning, TCU tallied two runs in the second inning, where Jack Bell bunted for an RBI single before scoring on a balk. Cole Cramer slapped an RBI single and Chase Brunson crushed a grand slam in the fourth inning, where TCU recorded five runs to build an 8-0 lead. An RBI triple from Sawyer Strosnider in the sixth inning tacked on an insurance run for the Horned Frogs, who totaled eight hits and eight drawn walks.
