Barcola agrees to join Liverpool but transfer uncertain due to one major obstacle

Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola has verbally agreed to join Liverpool this summer, according to L’Equipe.

But there is uncertainty whether a transfer will materialise due to the significant gap in valuation between the two clubs.

PSG want a record £145 million fee to sanction a sale. The Ligue 1 giants are citing recent deals for Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers as inflationary benchmarks for the Frenchman’s valuation.

Barcola has emerged as one of the best young forwards since joining PSG in 2023.

He has made 152 appearances across all competitions, bagging 39 goals and 37 assists.

Barcola played a pivotal role in helping the Parisians win the Champions League and Ligue1 trophies last season.

He was unhappy with manager Luis Enrique’s decision to drop him from the starting line-up for the club’s biggest matches, including the Champions League final.

The France international is highly rated by Liverpool, but there are significant doubts about whether they would go as high as £145m.

The Reds splashed a record £446m to add seven new players to the squad last summer.

But most of the signings failed to make an immediate impact as Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League and went out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals.

Their failures last season cost Arne Slot his job, with the club’s hierarchy appointing Andoni Iraola as their new manager.
