Barcelona are reportedly set to receive a fee from Marc Cucurella’s shock transfer to Real Madrid.

The former Barcelona defender has agreed a six-year deal with Los Blancos and will move from Chelsea on a transfer worth €55 million.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will receive around €1.35 million from the sale as part of FIFA’s Solidarity Mechanism.

The scheme means that 5% of the transfer fee is distributed proportionally among all the clubs that trained the player between the ages of 12 and 23.

Cucurella was at Barcelona from the age of 14 until 20 which means Barcelona will receive around 2.5% of the total transfer fee.

Espanyol, Getafe and Brighton will also receive a small percentage of the fee because of FIFA’s Solidarity Mechanism.

MD have crunched the numbers and now say that Barcelona will have received a total of €11m from Cucurella sales.

He was originally sold to Eibar for €2m before Barcelona bought him back for €4m and then sold him again to Getafe for €11.8m.

Barcelona made €9.8m from those sales and can now add another €1.35m to that number with his latest move.
