Barcelona remain keen on bringing in another right-back next season – Romano

Although Barcelona have a lot at stake during the final phase of the campaign, the club have also begun preparing for the season ahead.

The club understand that the summer ahead will be a crucial one, as Deco looks to add more quality and depth to certain weak areas.

Barcelona’s desire to add more reinforcements to the attacking unit has already been well-documented. But it appears the club are equally keen on shoring up other areas.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona remain keen on bringing in at least one more right-back next summer.

The club’s idea is to add more competition to Jules Kounde, even though the Frenchman is finally enjoying playing as a right-back this season.

Romano adds that Barça have already kickstarted talks with several targets in the market, though he didn’t exactly name the candidates.

In recent weeks, the Catalans have been linked with a plethora of right-backs, with AS Monaco starlet Vanderson emerging as the latest target for sporting director Deco.

It must be noted that Barcelona are not in a position to spend a fortune on a right-back. Therefore, the Catalans will likely target to cost-effective options in the market.

Kounde, for his part, is unlikely to have any qualms about Barcelona finding a new right-back in the market. The Frenchman is well aware of the fact that the club do lack a proper alternative for him in the position.

Although Hector Fort has done well in several aspects, the Spaniard hasn’t shown enough to convince Hansi Flick. And therefore, signing a new right-back remains a priority for Barcelona.
