Barcelona hit by injury blow as Patricio Pacífico out for nine months with ACL injury

Barcelona have been hit by some really bad news on the injury front as young defender Patricio Pacífico is expected to be sidelined for a long time after rupturing his ACL.

Pacifico only joined the club on loan in the January transfer window but had been impressing for Juliano Belletti’s side, with speculation mouting he would stay on a permanent basis.

However, he now faces a lengthy spell out of the game after sustaining an injury in Sunday’s draw with Olot.

According to Diario Sport, Pacifico has undergone tests today which have shown he’s suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the next 8-9 months.

It’s a massive blow for both club and player, particularly after the youngster had made a bright start to life in Catalunya.

Pacifico’s injury is the latest in what’s been a really tough campaign for Barca Atletic. Belletti has seen a host of key players suffer serious injuries which has hindered their push for promotion.
