The all-Spanish quarterfinal between FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid is fast approaching.

Diego Simeone’s Atlético will meet Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League for the third time, and all three occasions have taken place in the competition’s round of eight. Atleti eliminated Barça in the two previous knockout meetings, in 2014 and 2016, despite failing to win the first leg in both ties.

This marks the season’s fifth meeting between Atleti and Barça, after two fixtures in LaLiga (which Barcelona won 3-1 and 2-1) and a two-legged Copa del Rey semifinal that Atleti won 4-3 on aggregate.

Thread rules

  • This game might get heated. Cholo Simeone may make a head-scratching change or two. Atleti and Barça just played on Saturday and this match is likely to be intense. But please don’t use offensive/derogatory language, and keep swearing to a minimum. Don’t abuse the coaches, the players or the match officials.
  • A continuation of the first guideline: excessive negativity weighs everyone down. It’s alright to express frustration, but avoid making excessively pessimistic statements in the chat.
  • Do not discuss or share streaming links. I am so serious about this. We will get in big trouble for hosting or even discussing them. I don’t want to ban anyone from the chat, so please don’t do it.
  • Use common sense. Treat others in the thread how you yourself would like to be treated.

Aúpa Atleti!!!
