Barcelona’s Gerard Martin shows off epic gift from legend Paolo Maldini

Barcelona defender Gerard Martin has been dubbed ‘Gerard Maldini’ this season in a fun nickname courtesy of his performances for the club.

The left-back has now revealed that he’s received an epic gift from the Italy and AC Milan legend in a post on social media.

Martin showed off a special signed Maldini shirt with the message: “To Gerard… Best wishes for a happy birthday, and good luck in your career! With affection, Paolo Maldini.”

It’s a nice touch from Maldini and comes after Martin has spoken about the nickname he’s been given.

“My Gerard Maldini nickname? It’s quite funny. My teammates call me Maldini. I take it well and am happy to be performing at a good level as a centre-back to be named like that,” he said recently.

Maldini is a true great who won almost everything the game had to offer. The defender landed seven Serie A titles with Milan and lifted the European Cup on five occasions.
