The reseeding is solving a problem where there isn't one.

Zero reason to diminish the division winners.
So much disagree. A team that goes 13-4 where a division winner goes 9-8 shouldn't have a home game? In what world does that make sense?

Has to be a reward for winning your division.
Besides, a 13-4 team should be able to beat a 9-8 team even on the road.
None of that even considers the effects of S.O.S.... the 9-8 squad could be the better team

Then do away with divisions because they would be meaningless.

No AFC no NFC just whoever has the best record gets in.

Best record isn’t always the best team.

Plus divisions really help to cement the fan to the game due to divisional rivalries.

Again this is solving a problem where there isnt one.

I'm just extending DCR's argument here. I like the current playoff format very much.
My only thought on it is...
Maybe add one round before the wild card...
Divisional Championship game.
But that could allow an even worse record into the dance.
A few years back the Raiders swept the AFC West,...but missed the playoffs because it was the only 6 games they won.
It's a hard concept to swallow, that you can sweep your division but not be division champions

That'll happen less as they add more games. Right now the division schedule is only six of 17 games.

Someone on a podcast I listened to proposed an 18-game schedule with no divisions where you play every team in the conference once each year and some assortment of non-conference games in the other three. I don't have much appetite for that arrangement.

As I said, I like the current schedule fine. I like that we see every team at home on a predictable basis. I don't mind that there isn't much difference between first- and last-place schedules.

At the end of the day, I think that it sorts itself out. Minnesota proved they were frauds getting mopped at "Los Angeles". If you're really about that life, you should be able to go into a lesser team's house and handle business. I as well like the current format. Even if it would cost us a home playoff game. It is what it is.

Not at all. You win your division, you are guaranteed to make the playoffs. Just not guaranteed a home game as well.

What is the difference? In 2020 the 10-6 Miami Dolphins stayed home while the 7-9 Washington Football Team hosted a playoff game and the 8-8 Chicago Bears made the playoffs as a wild card.
The difference is that let's say the 2nd seed in the conference, plays in the same division as the #1 seed. That team would have to play on the road. A 14-3 team could in theory play on the road against a 9-8 team. That seems fair to you?

Yes. Win your division.

14-win second place teams don't happen in a vacuum. It happens when those divisions play bad opponents in common.

One team is 5 games better but plays on the road? Give me a break and get outta here with that nonsense.

The only way this would be fair is if everyone played the same opponents, which they obviously do not.
