More on Bam Adebayo: Recent HoopsHype Rumors
Mitchell, who is a defensive-minded guard, envisions a Heat defense led by six-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection Bam Adebayo and a former NBA Defensive Player of the Year in Antetokounmpo that will be “really scary.” “I think we have a defensive-minded team, which is really good,” Mitchell, 27, said. “Because I think offense, we’ll learn. The chemistry is going to have to get there. And people expect our offense isn’t going to be like that. But we were the No. 1-ranked scoring offense last year without Giannis. So, you add Giannis, that’s like 10x. So, people don’t understand. I think a lot of people just look at numbers and what somebody shot here, what somebody shot here. And it’s like, when you play with different people, your game is going to change. You’re going to have different roles. — 7/10/2026 Miami Herald
“Bam is going to get a lot of catch-and-shoots. I’m going to get a lot of catch-and-shoots. Everyone’s going to get a lot because of how much [Antetokounmpo] brings to the court and how much gravity he brings. So, I think the percentages are going to look better because we’re going to get more wide open shots instead of, like, we’ve got to create our shot. Throughout the game, obviously, you get open shots. But with him, there’s going to be so many open shots that people don’t understand that. But, they’ll see.” — 7/10/2026 Miami Herald
Shams Charania: "I think there's a draw with Miami, and I think Pat Riley is a draw, I think Erik Spoelstra is a draw, once again. I haven't gotten the feel that there's any tension that still remains between LeBron James and Pat Riley that would deter him from that. I actually think Bam Adebayo and Giannis are big draws for him too. Like he played Team USA with Bam, he's got a lot of respect for Bam. Giannis would want LeBron James in Miami as well from my understanding, so, and then no state taxes there, you played in Miami, and you got to think about it. There's all these factors and I think what Rich Paul was trying to do with his podcast and I think he did was lay out that yeah, it's about basketball, it's about culture, it's about environment." — 7/8/2026 YouTube
Anthony Chiang: Bam Adebayo, Davion Mitchell and Nikola Jovic were at the Heat's summer league practice in Las Vegas today. Adebayo and Jovic were getting in a workout together on the adjacent court. — 7/8/2026 Twitter @Anthony_Chiang
We won’t list the quotes from that private spring conversation because they were shared publicly without his authorization. After the fan seemed to try to incite Herro and mentioned Bam Adebayo favorably, there was a comment — attributed to Herro — wondering whether a top tier defender on “some nights” should get paid $60 million. Adebayo, incidentally, has never been paid $60 million; his current extension tops out with a $57.4 million player option in 2028-29. Herro likely doesn’t want to call attention to the private comments and that could be why he has declined to discuss them or acknowledge if he made the remarks. — 7/7/2026 Miami Herald
His off-court activity in the final days before he was shipped to Milwaukee included a classy and thoughtful farewell message on Monday but also included perplexing behavior that triggered a social media backlash days earlier. To recap: On Instagram last week, Herro posted a graphic listing the league’s top worst midrange shooters last season. And there, plain for everyone to see, was Giannis Antetokounmpo listed as the worst (at 26.8%) and Bam Adebayo listed as the 10th worst, at 35.9%. Then an apparent error in judgment, from this past spring, came to light: A Heat fan posted a screenshot of several comments attributed to Herro. Herro did not respond to a text message asking him if he made any of those comments. — 7/7/2026 Miami Herald
Heat Central: Giannis Antetokounmpo WANTS LeBron James to join the Heat, per @ShamsCharania “There’s a draw with Miami. Pat Riley is a draw, Spoelstra is a draw. I have gotten any feel that there’s still tension between LeBron and Pat Riley that would detour him from that. I think Bam and Giannis are big draws for him too. He played team USA for Bam and has a lot of respect for Bam. Giannis would want LeBron in Miami from my understanding as well. No state taxes…. In January, you think about Miami and, it’s Miami! If you have a team that is basically neck and neck but one of them is based in Miami, with no state taxes.” — 7/7/2026 x.com

Heat Central: Giannis Antetokounmpo says Bam Adebayo is the BEST American big man in the NBA: Alex: Who’s the best American big man Giannis: Bam Adebayo. I’ll tell you right now it’s Bam Adebayo bro — 7/6/2026 x.com
Heat Central: Veterans minimum signings such as DeMar DeRozan, Bradley Beal, and Khris Middleton could be on hold for Miami until LeBron makes his decision per, @JakeLFischer “We’re looking at Toronto, potentially Miami. All these veterans who could go to Miami and join Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, they I think will all be on hold with LeBron’s situation” (Via @BleacherReport) — 7/6/2026 x.com
