The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Sent home by Minnesota in just five games, the Lakers were unable to meet the lofty expectations that came with a duo of LeBron James and Luka Doncic.
Adding to LA's expectations this postseason was the fourth-year leap taken by 26-year-old guard Austin Reaves. Averaging a career-high 20.2 points and 5.8 assists, Reaves finished fifth in Most Improved Player voting (via NBA PR).
Despite his breakout regular season, Reaves was underwhelming in the playoffs. Averaging 16.2 points in five games against Minnesota, Reaves converted on just 31.9% of his 3-point attempts.

While LA's early exit was disappointing, the players now have a longer summer to prepare for the 2025-26 campaign while taking part in other offseason activities. For Reaves, he has already announced what he will be doing in June while the NBA Finals take place.
In a post on his Instagram story, Reaves announced the Reaves Brothers Basketball Camp that will take place from June 9-17 in his home state of Arkansas.
This camp has four different dates and locations, giving 3rd-9th grade basketball players in the area an opportunity to learn from Reaves and his brother. Several NBA players host offseason youth camps, often in their hometowns, which is a way for these stars to give back to the area they come from.
Reaves played his high school basketball in Arkansas before playing collegiately at Wichita State (2016-18) and Oklahoma (2019-21).
