Day three of the NFL draft has been busy for the Auburn Tigers, as three members of its 2024 roster have been selected.

Jarquez Hunter began the day by going No. 117 overall to the Los Angeles Rams in round five, with KeAndre Lambert-Smith following suit in round six by being selected by the Los Angeles Chargers at No. 158 overall. Auburn's offensive players enjoyed the spotlight, but now it is time for the Tigers' first defensive player to enjoy his moment.

Jalen McLeod became the first Auburn defensive player to hear his name called on Saturday when the Jacksonville Jaguars scooped him up with the 194th overall pick in the sixth round of the NFL draft. Should he sign, he will join former Tigers Tank Bigsby and Daniel Thomas on the Jaguars roster.

McLeod was a stellar linebacker/EDGE rusher for Auburn during his brief stint with the program. In two seasons, McLeod tallied 105 tackles , 25 going for loss and 13.5 being registered as sacks. He also forced three fumbles while recovering two.

He finished last season as Auburn's highest-graded defensive player with an 89.1 from Pro Football Focus. He graded above 70% in nine of Auburn's 12 games, hitting the 90% benchmark twice. He created 32 pressures and missed just 18% of attempted tackles.

McLeod will now compete alongside Travon Walker, Chad Muma, and the rest of the Jaguars' defensive ends and linebackers. McLeod was not afraid of tackling the ballcarrier during his time at Auburn and Appalachian State, and should continue his fiery passion in Duval County.
