Auburn baseball will go with a familiar look on the mound this weekend when it hosts Texas for a three-game SEC set beginning Friday at Plainsman Park.

Auburn head coach Butch Thompson has announced that the No. 4 Tigers will roll out their usual weekend pitching rotation for the upcoming series with No. 2 Texas. Jake Marciano will get the nod in Friday's opener, followed by Jackson Sanders on Saturday and Alex Petrovic on Sunday.

Friday's opener sets up a strong pitching matchup between Auburn's Jake Marciano and Texas' Ruger Riojas. Marciano won SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week after piecing together a quality outing in his last time out. He tossed a season-high seven complete innings with two hits and zero runs allowed while striking out seven batters in Auburn's 2-0 win over Missouri last Friday. A light outage at Taylor Park in Columbia, Missouri, cut his outing short, but Garrett Brewer closed the deal by striking out three batters over the final two innings while keeping Missouri off the board.

Marciano enters Friday's start with a 3-0 record and a 0.93 ERA with 42 strikeouts on the season. Riojas, Texas' projected Friday starter, suffered his first loss last Friday against Ole Miss, but has 50 strikeouts on the season, with three games of 50 strikeouts or more.

Sanders threw seven innings in Auburn's 4-3 win over Missouri in game one of last Saturday's doubleheader, marking the second-straight game that he has reached the mark. He allowed three hits while striking out eight batters in the win. Although he did not receive a decision in the game, he continued to find the strike zone with ease by throwing a 67% strike rate and allowing just one walk.

Petrovic will face his home-state team on Sunday. The Cyprus, Texas native is 4-0 on the season with a 2.02 ERA and 31 strikeouts. In his last start, Petrovic found his groove by throwing 90 pitches over 7 2/3 innings, both season highs. He also gave up just one run on four hits in Auburn's 9-2 win, solidifying a sweep over Missouri on Saturday.

Auburn and Texas boast the lowest ERAs in the SEC at 2.26 and 2.67, respectively, and have allowed the fewest hits in the conference. Both staffs have also produced multiple shutouts and walks come at a premium. Expect pitching to tell the story of this weekend's series, and the factor being how quickly each team goes to its bullpen.

Auburn will face Texas on Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. CT, and will close the series on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. Each game will be streamed live on SEC Network+.

Time to square up.
