The transfer portal is just three days away from opening, and Auburn is expected to be involved with one of the portal's top wide receivers.
Iverson Hooks had a stellar season with the UAB Blazers by hauling in 72 passes for 927 yards and seven touchdowns, and is expected to enter the transfer portal, possibly to find an opportunity within a larger program. According to Pete Nakos of On3, Auburn is one of the teams expected to pursue Hooks.
Wide receiver will be a top priority for the Tigers this offseason as several of its notable pieces are set to enter the transfer portal. Hooks is a worthy candidate for a look as a 5'10, 175-pound receiver with 1,225 yards and 10 touchdowns in four seasons at UAB. The Pike Road High School graduate was also a part of the Blazers' return game, where he logged 10 punt returns for 110 yards in 2025.
Auburn is slated to lose four of its five leading receivers from the 2025 season, as Cam Coleman, Malcolm Simmons, Perry Thompson, and Horatio Fields have announced their plans to enter the transfer portal. As it stands, Eric Singleton is the lone receiver of the bunch set to return after making 58 catches for 534 yards and three touchdowns in 2025. Bryce Cain could also see an expanded role with the team, while 2026 signees Brady Marchese, Brian Williams, and Deshawn Spencer could be players in the rotation as well.
The transfer portal window will open on Friday, Jan. 2, and will remain open for two weeks, closing on Jan. 16.
