The Atlanta Braves continue to play well, as they defeated the Miami Marlins on Thursday. However, Ronald Acuna Jr. suffered an injury scare. He seemingly suffered the injury during an at-bat during the game. According to Braves manager Walt Weiss, Acuna has a bone bruise in his thumb, Grant McAuley reports.

X-rays were negative. It seems as if Acuna is alright. Still, the Braves are understandably going to proceed with extreme caution.

Jesus Cano later reported that Acuna said he experienced tightness in his thumb. Acuna also reportedly said he could not move the thumb.

Acuna, 28, has been limited to 37 games played in 2026. The outfielder has slashed .261/.370/.384 so far during the '26 campaign. He also has two home runs as well.

Acuna dealt with an injury earlier in the season. Injuries have impacted him throughout his career. He has not played in more than 100 games since 2023.

When healthy, Acuna features one of the highest ceilings in the game. He is one of the most talented overall players in all of baseball. Acuna simply needs to find a way to stay on the field on a consistent basis.

The Braves will continue to monitor and provide updates on Ronald Acuna Jr.'s injury status as they are made available.

Braves Defeat Marlins on Thursday

Starting pitcher Spencer Strider allowed three earned runs across 6.1 innings of work on the mound. It was a respectable effort, as he struck out nine hitters. He did walk two batters, however.

Atlanta's bullpen followed Strider's performance with scoreless baseball. It was a strong overall pitching effort.

Offensively, the Braves recorded nine runs on 13 hits. Acuna had two hits and two RBI before exiting the game. Meanwhile, Michael Harris II hit two home runs and Mike Yastrzemski added a home run.

It was an all-around impressive contest from the Braves. The pitching and offense got the job done. Acuna's injury was obviously far from ideal, but the ball club was able to play well.

Atlanta is now 35-16 overall. The Braves hold a 9.5 game lead in the National League East standings. Atlanta earned a 2-1 series win against the Marlins in Miami.

The ball club will look to continue performing well over the weekend in a three-game series against the Washington Nationals. First pitch for the Nationals and Braves game on Friday night is scheduled for 7:15 PM EST.
