The Athletics and Seattle Mariners made a notable trade on Thursday afternoon.
Both clubs announced that left-hander Jose Suarez was sent to the A's in exchange for cash. The 28-year-old was designated for assignment by the Mariners earlier this week.
Suarez, an eight-year Major League veteran, is out of minor league options and will be placed directly onto the A's MLB roster.
He has made 63 starts in 115 career appearances since making his debut with the Los Angeles Angels in 2019.
"He’s worked as both a starter and reliever in the past, but seems ticketed for manager Mark Kotsay’s bullpen — at least for now," Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors wrote.

In eight games with the Atlanta Braves before his two-inning Mariners tenure, Suarez allowed 12 earned runs and 22 hits in 16.1 innings.
To make room for Suarez on the roster, the A's DFA'd outfielder Junior Perez.
