Honestly i prefer defense... But imo a 20yd pass is nowhere near as exciting as a 20yd run

You didn’t mention guys like Kirk and Golden, and I understand why. But especially Kirk, I think by the end of this season he will have proved to be a legit #2 and in the running to take over the #1 WR position on this team in 2019.

I think he’ll be okay but my enthusiasm for him when drafted has been considerably lessened. I think he’ll be a good, but never great, pro. Think maybe Golden Tate lite. Not a player that would be exciting enough to entice a coach.

Conservative can't be exciting. That's the whole message of the modern NFL — they're gonna make it as easy as possible for you to create big plays. If you're not trying to score 27 points a game, what are you doing? Someone else is gonna do it to you.

I don't think that you can "Run well with quick-hitting short passes to WRs", and the Sam Bradford experience showed us why. The defenses today just collapse the 15 yards in front of the LOS and everything's gummed up.

A conservative offense that is "run the ball down their throat, and then bombs away off play action" can be pretty fun. I loved those Kerry Collins Giants teams that were basically that. But these dink-and-dunk offenses that are all 4-yard bubble screens that peter out if there's a 3rd and 7 are awful to watch.

personally I think if we had tyreke hill and stefan diggs those short passes would be more exciting.

But I will concede the point...conservative as we have been doing it does kinda suck azz

Even though I've said we should give the coach time. Long term I think this ends the same way anyhow unless he gets a very high quality OC with a good deal of independence.

So I'd rather it happen sooner rather than later but we'll see how it plays out.

That’s how I feel too, Conrad, and I think it is kind of a strange feeling. On one hand I don’t believe in decisions based on emotions, but on the other hand it doesn’t make a lot of sense to hang on to something you don’t really believe will ever be a success.

Well since Mitch (as one poster noted) isn’t here some fool needs to present the defense and I’m just that guy. I know some of this was presented earlier. Wilks wasn’t my choice. However, he’s now the guy. Transitioning to a head coach is a gigantic leap few can successfully make. I’m not going to do the research to list poor starts by later successful new coaches. I’m confident there are several. Rarely are first time coaches brought in to take over a team on the rise. Also I’m not sure how you win with a poor offensive line, 1 experienced RB and 1 experienced, successful WR. The defense seems to be coming around, though I expect some tough games. The offense is so undermanned I’m not sure it could be fixed by anyone. I already posted I don’t think McCoy was actually Wilks’ choice. People keep writing about the Seattle game but with a better kicker I think the Cards win. This is an example of what’s wrong with the Cards’ personnel. I’m not sure Wilks succeeds but I am sure 4 games is too quick to make the decision he won’t. He deserves a chance. Nothing will happen before year’s end. So let’s be patient.
