AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (22-29) won 12-3 (BOX SCORE)


Sugar Land got the scoring started in the 4th inning on a Price 2 run home run, Strahm RBI triple and Thomas RBI single. McPherson got the start and went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs while striking out 4. The offense grabbed another run in the 5th on a Whitcomb RBI single. In the 7th, Sugar Land blew it open scoring 7 runs on a Nelson RBI double, Whitcomb sac fly, run on a fielder’s choice, Winkler 2 run single and Unroe 2 run single. The pen was solid as they closed out the 12-3 win.

Note: Alexander has a .863 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (21-24) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)


Brown made a rehab start for the Hooks and was great striking out 5 over 2 scoreless innings. Hader pitched after him and tossed one scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts. Dombroski came in next and pitched well striking out 5 over 5 innings allowing just one run. In the bottom of the 9th, Williams connected on a solo home run to tie it up. The game went to extra innings and in the 10th, Encarnacion walked it off with an RBI single as the Hooks won 2-1.

Note: Encarnacion is hitting .280 this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (9-35) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)


Asheville got on the board in the first inning on a Powell RBI single. Howard got the start for Asheville and went 4.1 innings allowing 1 run with 4 strikeouts. DeVos allowed 4 runs in relief as the Hot Rods took the lead. The offense got one in the 7th on a Call home run and one in the 8th on a Frey groundout but that was it as Asheville fell 5-3.

Note: Powell is hitting .294 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (19-26)


Game One – lost 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

MacRae got the start in game one but struggled allowing 4 runs over 3.1 innings. The Woodpeckers got on the board in the third inning scoring a run on a balk. The Nationals scored 2 more runs off Varela to extend their lead. In the 6th, the Woodpeckers scored a run on a Salas groundout but that was it as they dropped game one 6-2.

Note: Neyens has a .436 OBP this season.


Game Two – lost 9-3 (BOX SCORE)

Smith started game two for the Woodpeckers but had struggles too as he allowed 5 runs over 3.1 innings. He was relieved by Cassedy who allowed 3 unearned runs. The offense got on the board in the 5th on a Wakefield RBI single. They scored 2 more runs in the 6th on a balk and Cauro walk but they couldn’t finish the comeback as they dropped game two 9-3.

Note: Rosario has 35 K in 22 innings this season.
