Once again, the Houston Astros answer back after a tough loss. The Astros defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-8 in the second game of the series, snapping the Rays' 9-game winning streak.

The game didn't start off in the Astros' favor. Hunter Brown gave up a homer to Caminero, making it 1-0 Rays.

The Astros answered back right away in the bottom of the first. Altuve hit a triple, getting into scoring position right away. Then Yordan did what he does best. He crushed another home run, a two-run homer putting the Astros in the lead 2-1, making it 28 home runs for the 2026 season.

Manager Joe Espada called a team meeting before Saturday's game and announced that Yordan Alvarez will be the starting DH for the American League team in this year's All-Star game.

But back to the game on the field.

The Rays answered right back, taking back the lead. Another homer for the Rays, this time hit by Palacios, making it 3-2 Rays.

Hunter Brown was not at his best Saturday either, but the Astros were able to get it done anyway. Even the best of the best have an off day, and Saturday was not Hunter Brown's day.

Here is a look at his game stats, per CBS Sports:

Hunter Brown took a no-decision Saturday, July 4, 2026.

  • Innings Pitched: 4.0
  • Runs: 7 (season-high)
  • Hits: 6
  • Walks: 4
  • Strikeouts: 3
  • Pitches: 88 (52 strikes)

It wasn't a picture perfect game for the team either. A major error in the fourth led to another run, making it 7-2 Rays in the top of the fourth. But right when you thought the Astros were going to unravel, they answered back yet again.

Yainer Diaz stepped up and crushed a two-run homer. Then Altuve pulled through in the fifth with a double, and the Astros had Nick Allen on third and Jose Altuve on second. The perfect setup for Yordan Alvarez to step up to the plate. Alvarez had a base hit driving Allen home, and all of a sudden the Astros were right back in it. Going from a 5-run deficit to a 2-run game, 7-5.

But then, yet another homer for the Rays, making it 8-5. The Astros answered back with a sacrifice fly by Alvarez with the bases loaded, bringing Taylor Trammell home, making it a 2-run game again.

Then Paredes stepped up with a base hit, collecting another RBI. Dezenzo followed with another base hit, tying the game.

To seal the deal, Yordan Alvarez hit his second homer of the game and 29th of the season. A two-run homer to make it 10-8 Astros.
