Well, there’s really not much choice for tonight’s Gold – Ashlon Jackson made sure of that.
Duke was in great shape in the fourth quarter against LSU when the Tigers made a tremendous comeback, outscoring Duke 10-0 down the stretch to take an 85-84 lead.
Duke took one shot and missed, and then had just 0:02 left on the clock. Jordan Wood got the ball in to Jackson, who faked LSU great Flau’jae Johnson out of the way, then took a three from the left side of the three-point line.
That shot went around…and around…and after taking its good, sweet time, the shot dropped in.
Jackson got to live the dream every kid dreams in the driveway…“clock winding down…Jackson gets the in-bounds. Johnson rushes out to devend..but Jackson fakes her out of her Nikes! She’s open! It’s up…spins around and around…it’s in! Duke wins on Jackson’s three!”
By the way, Jackson was 1-7 from behind the line before that shot.
This team has been a joy to watch. We’re really happy they’ll get a shot at the Final Four. It won’t be easy – they’ll face #1 seed UCLA on Sunday – but 14 teams won’t get that chance.
Go to the DBR Boards to find Blue Healer Auctions | Drop us a lineIncredible drama on that ball rolling around. Duke was 3-6 when it lost in December at home to LSU. Takes the rematch, second ACC team to beat a 2-seed from the SEC and reach the Elite Eight today. https://t.co/spAkTUB8hw
